our wedding 08.08.14

June 1, 2015

i’ve been waiting for this post for months! our wedding was certainly the best day ever. if i could relive it over and over, i would! in planning our wedding, we really wanted an day spent outdoors, an elevated garden with a romantic european feel. i wanted our wedding to really reflect who we are, and there were little touches everywhere that were so very us.

our wedding party walked down the aisle to ‘moon river’, and i walked to ‘sir greendown’ by janelle monae because it was special to us. our first kiss was sealed to ‘all the lovers’ by kylie, and our first dance was to ‘you’re the storm’ by the cardigans. can you tell we’re music people? we literally hand picked every song that played the entire day – it’s a soundtrack we’ve listened to many times since and it’s so special to reminisce each time!

i am a dessert lover, and every plate was topped with a custom ‘eat dessert first’ rose macaron, and figs and almonds were displayed across the table as an ode to roberto’s portuguese roots. we served a family style meal, and la stella wine was such a treat. our signature cocktail was called ‘the lemon charlie’, an ode to roberto’s dad who made the lemon vodka (his nick name is charlie). each place setting had a calligraphy place card created just for them by love by phoebe. the flowers were exactly as i imagined, and being such a flower girl, had multiple meetings with my florist, gloria of flower factory, to handpick each variety.

my absolute favorite part of the day was walking down the aisle. it may have been my favourite moment in life. seeing everyone looking back at you, each person that has played a huge part in your life, and having your husband at the end… it was so moving. all in all, the day was just perfect. of course, there were little things that didn’t run perfectly (the ceremony was so hot, and i was so self conscious about melting, there were some problems with the electronics etc.), but that didn’t phase us at all.

the venue had an 11pm curfew, so we invited guests back to our suite at the fairmont pacific rim for pizza and dancing – it was such a fun way to extend the night!

i was so thrilled that our wedding day was a representation of us and our love for eachother. i cannot thank all our wonderful friends and family who supported us along the way enough, and of course, our wonderful vendors, as well.

check back tomorrow for some of the lessons i’ve learned (so that you don’t have to!), and in the coming weeks, i’ll share some of our wedding video from capture the moment!
