a day in the life

April 8, 2015

it’s been such a whirlwind around here lately. i’m writing this at 7:30pm after a 13 hour day – dinner is getting cold, my husband is waiting for attention, and i’m happy as a clam. i run a pr and marketing company, sparkle media, and i’m telling you, it’s a heck of a lot of work, but so fulfilling. not a day goes by that i don’t think that i’d happily do this for free… i’d be broke, and unable to feed my pillow and bag obsession, but still. some days are crazy, full of meetings, tricky situations, needs for all kinds of creativity, whether it be for a client project or a difficult conversation. i’ve been so lucky to score some amazing clients, and there have been some that haven’t been so amazing (i choose to let those be teaching moments and focus on choosing a better fit the next time around…).

a day in the life? it changes daily, so it’s hard to say. this morning, i was on set at 7:45am with a client for a morning show to promote an upcoming event (so much prep goes into these segments from pitching and conceptualizing, to working with the segment producer, client meetings for practice and flow). after that, a swing by sweet bake shop to pick up goodies for a media drop for a client – thought it would be fun to show you these packages we put together for tori blush, a re-launch of a makeup, hair and lash services company. the amount of prep for something like this… it takes weeks. deciding how to roll it out, elements of what to include, choosing the key media to reach out to, designing materials, then the putting it together after sourcing the goods, and finally, driving them around. i adore this process to be honest – so much fun to collab with a client on this stuff.

after that, it was time for lunch with my assistant, and it had to be pizza (shared that on instagram, obvs!), followed by a quick flower pick up for a clients birthday. then, it was off to another client meeting to discuss branding and roll out for their brand new business – glasfurd & walker whose work i adore was where we held the meeting, and i feel beyond lucky to work on this client project with them.

finally, the day was done, and it was one for the books. doing what you love… nothing feels more natural. yes, it’s draining at times, and hey, sometimes dinner gets cold and your husband has to have a second vodka soda while he waits for you to blog about it, but it makes me so darn happy.
